This VLOG shares my experiences at my very first Chumpcar World Series race with the awesome team Die Lilium Mannschaft #966. Chuckwalla Valley Raceway is located in Desert Center CA. (in the middle of nowhere) and until construction is finished everyone has to lodge an hour away...and bring your own fuel because its expensive on location. Personal safety equipment required to race chumpcar includes; 1)current snell helmet with hans device, 2)approved dual layer suit, 3)nomex socks, 4)approved shoes, and 5)approved gloves. I purchased most of my gear from Speedway Motors because they have a"garage sale" section with discontinued/previous years line-up. We decided to stay in Palm Springs instead of Blythe, mainly because we didn't want to get probed by aliens...so lodging at "The V" resort set us back too. Fuel is a variable based on your personal vehicle, but our 16' Subaru Forester gets an AVERAGE combined mpg between 25-27...so thats another factor. Then there are the drivers fees, witch are specific to each team.
So as you can see this type of racing comes with a price tag, but what you spend here goes further than just the 3 days you are with your team. There is a level of brotherhood Ive not felt since my days in the military and it will leave its mark on your heart...and kinda rekindle your faith in humanity. The racing here was fun and fearless, there were times we raced in some rain and even a small sand storm. We gave each other just enough room to race while pushing our machines to their limit and no one lost their cool. Be willing to help out and don't wreck anyones car. I highly recommend Chumpcar, its fun and challenging to learn different cars on the fly while trusting the guys next to you even though you just met them. Thank you Greg for the opportunity to be part of your amazing team and for the guidance on how to make this event a reality.
