I know what you're thinking. "The first set? C'mon really?"
Yes thats right! Believe it or not, at the time we requested a set of these coilovers from BC there were no products available for the Toyota Yaris. We had to wait 6 weeks for them to design and test fit the set they sent to us. The day they finally arrived we were all super excited to see what they built. You can check out the unboxing video above. Right out of the box you could tell these were high quality. Digressive valving and reasonable spring rates of 5k front/3k rear. There is a TON of ride height adjustability and the collars seem to be very sturdy, with the install and adjusting the rear ride height several times...not one tool mark was left. I've seen some low end coilovers locking collars become very damaged from regular adjustments. The damping adjustment is also phenomenal, the clicks are easy to feel and Ive noticed damping changes with only 2 clicks! If you take a look at the dyno graph from BC you can see the changes based on level of adjustment.
I then verified preload using this video HERE. I reused the TRD upper strut mounts I've had for a few years, and then installed the coilovers on the car. I used (2) sets of SPC Camber Bolts to achieve -3.4 degrees of front camber, and set the toe to zero. You can check those out here.
And here's the install time-lapse video below.
For road driving we set the damping at +10 front/+10 rear, and it feels similar to the Tokico setup. Our first real test on these coilovers was at SCCA SDR #7 where we did 18 autocross runs total including the practice day. Some damping adjustments were made but we ended up at +10 front/+17 rear and stopped seeing results due to our cycled out tires. We mounted some new tires recently so stay tuned for our next round of testing at SCCA SDR #8.
I'll also post a bunch of the Toyota torque specs here for anyone interested.
Over all these BC Racing DR coilovers are great, they have all of the right features and are fully rebuildable with Bilstein valves and Swift springs. The install is simple, and they don't make any noise while driving or racing. So far the customer support has been great, all of this for just a bit more money than the Megan, Ksport, or Fortune sets and absolutely worth the price so far!
