Hiiiii everyone! I hope you are having a nice daaay! Today I want to share my experience with my first Influenster Box! I did receive these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes and I intend to give my full and honest review. If you don't know what Influenster is you can click here to get more info and sign up! Now let's get to the review:)
Upon receiving my Box I was super excited and a little nervous because I wanted to create really good content around these products. If you know me, you know that I love to use beauty products on the more natural side. So I was super excited to get my hands on the paraben, sulfate, etc.- free stuff! When choosing your beauty products it is good to make informed decisions, know where you're products are coming from and just what exactly you are putting on your body.
The Clairol Hairfood came in a small sample size but I was thrilled to try it because it is Paraben Free, Sulfate Free, and Mineral Oil Free! As you can see, it worked really well with my hair type and left it feeling soft, shiny, REALLY CLEAN and literally so bouncy. So I took myself to Target and bought the full sizes right away! This particular product, however, does not state in anyway shape or form that it is cruelty-free or no animal testing. It's also distributed by P&G and well they haven't exactly permanently banned animal testing. Just something to keep in mind.
Next was the EOS Sensitive Shaving Cream. This product is also Paraben-Free, Vegan, Not Tested On Animals (*"We care about our furry friends. eos does not test any of our products or ingredients on animals, nor do we ask anyone to do so on our behalf.") and it is Fragrance Free. I gotta say, I forgot what it was like to use shaving cream. Thick, creamy and easy to apply. So thankful I was sent the "sensitive" one because I remember when I use to use creams my skin would get very irritated. I'm happy to say there were no negative effects with this cream and definitely made shaving as comfortable as possible! So this was a favorite!
The Korres Mask is formulated without Parabens, Sulfates or Phthalates. It's a natural resurfacing face mask that I'm actually wearing right now as I type. To be perfectly clear it contains 87.9% natural ingredients, free of hydroquinone, petrolatum, mineral oil, silicones, propylene glycol, and ethanolamines AND it's cruelty free (“We also are strictly against animal testing, and do not test any ingredients or products on animals, nor do we hire outside companies to do so for us at any stage in production.”) So um yeah... also, a favorite. Did I mention it smells incredible!
The last product was Worth The Hype Mascara from NYX. And well... while Loreal Corporation states that they are committed to producing cruelty free cosmetics it also states "certain health authorities may nevertheless decide to conduct animal tests themselves for certain cosmetic products". It definitely doesn't state anything about being paraben-free or anything like that at all and while it may do an average job as a mascara, there is other ones I personally prefer.
So there you have it. My full and honest review of each product. I hope it helps anyone looking to try these products and I truly had a lot of fun testing and researching these out. It's quite interesting to me, to be honest. Really makes me appreciate the companies that work hard to keep their products clean.
Ohhh mascara... Always out searching endlessly for the perfect one and one that will not make my eyes water in pain (from certain ingredients).
My makeup collection is quite minimal as I try to use products on the more natural side. I have tried many mascaras only to end up disappointed by promises made on their descriptions. So for a long time I have been using Honest Beauty Truly Lush Mascara + Primer . Well since Jessica Alba launched Honest Beauty on September 2015. My makeup is actually mostly Honest Beauty. Their mascara has always worked very well. Double ended bushes that build really nice lashes.
I heard about By Terry's innovative 2 step twist mascara... and when Lydia Elise Millen tells you this product is GOOD, well you run out and get it.
Enriched with premium deep black pigments and natural protective oils like olive and avocado? Of course I also checked it out on EWG Skin Deep Data Base for their rating and By Terry mascaras tend to stay between 4-5. I picked up the last one in stock at Nordstrom that day. Could this Lash Expert Twist Brush Mascara really be so different?
It was time to try it out. I did the first coat, then the second and proceeded to twist the brush. That's when the magic happened. There's so many ways to apply this mascara and I suggest you play around with the brush and see what technique works best for your lashes.
I do have a couple tips. Don't pump this mascara as you will only push up a lot of product, waste it and end up with a clumpy awful mess. Slide the brush out gently and start your application. I do suggest waiting a few seconds before you move on to your next coat. Lightly apply as I don't think it is necessary to apply it in a savage manner... I mean I have seen people do that.
I kept my over all makeup very simple to focus on the lashes.
I think I'll keep this mascara!
I hope this helps if you are looking to try this product! You can definitely say I am very sensitive to most conventional products and I have not had a problem with this product. And I am so very very glad!

Honestly I was hoping I would perhaps get to see what Native American group I am from. Apparently, thats just not how it works lol. In fact my results ended up being pretty broad but fun and surprising none the less. As I opened the results to see what in the world I could possibly be other than Mexican and maybe French, I was quite surprised to see Asian. I was possibly too excited for some people, as the nasty comments started to come in. Right, I deleted those. Ain't nobody got time for that.
I was truly, pleasantly, surprised! No one in my family could have imagined. There's not much we have to go off of. There is no great grandmother or great grandfather to ask. Nor is there a grandfather, or even a biological father. My grandmother lost both of her parents at the age of 5 and while I could go on and make this story even more complicated, like I said in the video above, lets just say I didn't have 100% information about exactly what I was.
When the time comes I will be trying other services just to compare and get the most out of what I can possibly discover with these exciting DNA tests.
23andme was very enriching. I would definitely recommend it. I believe it also happens to be the most budget friendly! And you know what, there is other bits of fun information I didn't mention in the video like, 23andme connecting me to over 1,000 DNA relatives around the world! Insane. Ofcourse this is something you can opt out of, but I left my profile public allowing DNA relatives to request my information. Also finding that 74% of my DNA relatives are more likely to drink coffee!? I'm a known coffee addict, I see it's in our blood lol. In the future I want to upgrade to the health part of the results, and that's a whole other very exciting part of 23andme.
I realize now that I HAVE to order a kit for my mom! and hopefully convince my grandmother to do it and therefore find just a few more answers for my very curious little mind.
I hope you found this helpful, and I wish you the best of luck with your results if you plan to take the DNA test for yourself! And remember that we're all human and most of us will find that we are the world. Part of all nations, part of the human race. Unless you're part alien...
