What is Autocross? I'll let the SCCA explain: "Solo® is the brand name for SCCA® Autocrossing and on paper it seems very simple - use traffic cones to make a mini-roadcourse in a large parking lot or unused airport tarmac and see who can drive it the quickest without hitting any cones or going off course. The hazards and barriers are low and that makes autocross one of the easiest and least expensive ways to compete in a car. While speeds are generally no greater than those encountered in highway driving, the combination of concentration and precision maneuvering teach you fundamental car control skills"(SCCA.com). Low cost. Low risk. Fundamental car control skills. This is why Solo is so great, but then there is another element...the people. Almost everyone that regularly attends these events are full of knowledge, from car setup and preferred tires to driving practices and classing rules. The relationships you form at motorsports events add value and happiness to our racing passion.
