We left off Part 1 with me taking the car on its first real road test in several years, and that revealed some issues. The next day after the car sat overnight, the coolant level had dropped significantly. I did a cooling system pressure test to 19psi and it held for 5 minutes, only showing a small drip at the upper radiator hose. I removed the old clamp, cleaned the oxidation, installed a new clamp, then tested again. There are no further leaks, so where is the coolant going over night? This always sets off alarms in my head thinking its a bad head gasket, so I attached the coolant no spill funnel and filled it to the 1/4 mark. I then ran the engine until it was fully warmed up and raced the engine several times, No bubbles at all. The oil looks ok, coolant looks ok, so lets check the cap. Its a Koyorad, it seems to fit right and holds pressure, and the vacuum valve is not stuck. So I ordered a new cap from Toyota as a test, and BINGO the coolant is now being pulled back into the system from the reserve tank. Great, that was an easy fix. Since I know the cooling system is in good condition, lets replaced the fluid.

I think you will agree we live in a society where everyone flocks to Starbucks for their latest crayon flavored beverage, and has forgotten how to truly enjoy the coffee experience. Its nice to find a sustainable coffee roasting company locally using Organic, Fair Trade, and Solar energy practices. This is Cafe Moto. A company that imports, roasts, packages, and distributes their delicious product here in San Diego. They also have a cafe with wifi, pastries, complementary water, and plenty of seating inside and out, all while being located right off Interstate 5 on National Ave. Now I know many other coffee shops may have similar amenities, but here's why I have become a life-long customer. In their early days of business they also sold Italian motor bikes, and you are reminded of this evertime you visit. There is a vintage motor bike in the back along with one of the soapbox derby cars they raced. They also have a free bicycle repair station outside to help out the community. So naturally you can expect I related with them on a personal level, and took the 2ZRVIOS over for a friendly photoshoot. The staff has always been super nice and now knows our drink orders by heart. It's a place to go and slow down your day for a moment, to take in the smells and tastes of a product made with passion and appreciation of this planet. Don't forget to pay them a visit and experience this for yourself. Check out our family video here: |
