The SCCA National Tour, a team of dedicated men and women traveling around the U.S. hosting National level autocross events. These events are intended to expose us to the format and regulations of the actual SCCA Solo Nationals. I really like this events because lets face it, Im never going to tow the 2zrVios all the way to Lincoln Nebraska for Nationals. So in a way these local National Tours expose us to some real competition and a chance to cash in on contingencies. I took off work early on friday 3/3/17 to take the car and all of our equipment to Qualcomm and get registered at 3pm. I got the car inspected, applied contingency decals, and walked the course all in about one hour. The next day we showed up at 7am to get Ivan registered and his helmet inspected. After that we walked the course, then we waited until our turn to work the course. We ran in the 3rd heats with no problems, aside from our inexperience with driving with the LSD. I was able to secure 3rd place, and Ivan landed in 6th at his very first autocross event. Ivan started with a 60.5 and was able to carve down to a 52.9, now that was an epic performance! I was also able to catch up with a representative from Cusco, and we discussed the history and future of the 2zrVios. On Sunday only one of us from XP made it into the Challenges, but amazingly I got chosen for Lucky Dog! I was paired with a Camaro from CAMC and I ran two clean runs within .2 of my dial-in time. Unfortunately for me though the Camaro did better, and I was eliminated. I was sad, but there are other events and I've yet to find the limits of the car. 2017 has just started, and I plan to hit every event possible to relearn this car. Stay tuned as we challenge ourselves and the car on our journey .
