Krusteaz Protien Waffles

In our house, we have a fun Sunday ritual, which includes more than just eggs for breakfast. After we get our nutrition, our girls get to make waffles with dad! We've been doing this for a while and have tried MANY different "waffle mixes" over the years. As part of Influenster, we actually received a box from Krusteaz! A protein-packed Flapjack and waffle mix and I was really happy when I saw No Artificial Flavors, No Artificial Colors and No Artificial Preservatives.

Our recommendation is to follow the waffle instructions on the side of the box (more on this later, trust me thicker batter makes the prettiest waffles). So we apply coconut oil to the cooking surface of the waffle iron and turn it on. *(Click here to see what waffle iron we use!)

Ellie poured the mix in and we used 2 cups of almond milk (for the extra protein).

Then we added 1 large egg.

And 2 Tbsp of vegetable oil and blended all the ingredients together and seriously do not worry if it is slightly lumpy or seems too thick for a waffle iron.

The trick to making these awesome waffle wedges is to wait until the waffle iron "ready" light is on and then pour in the mix until you see it stop flowing into the machine. Do not attempt to pour in a measured amount of it will overflow, however much it takes is fine! Once the ready light comes on again the waffle is done cooking, carefully open the waffle iron and remove the waffle. Now you can add any type of toppings you want, we personally like to use Organic honey instead of syrup, some powdered sugar, and berries!

Like I mentioned earlier, we also like to eat these throughout the day with no toppings at all. This is a good test of how the mix actually tastes alone and they are delicious! We are also pleased that this mix has no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives! I can't wait for you to try these waffles with honey! I want to let everyone know that I can't take credit for this entire post as my husband actually started it and well he was the cook so it's allowed right?

I have actually tried these before and they’re pretty good! I didn’t think to use almond milk, that’s a good idea.

Wow, love it! I LOVE waffles but I only eat them if they’re egos or if I go out for breakfast. I never tried to make them myself but I definitely will be trying this out!
